Dr. Shé D'Montford, editor of SPELLCRAFT MAGAZINE
(pronounced Shay) is Australia’s premier periodical for the occult and esoteric, is a Teacher, Healer, Author, Promoter, and Activist.

St de Montfort

Whenever a story involving witches or anything to do with witchcraft crops up, Dr. She D’Montford is often the first person the media contacts for an expert comment. As the editor of an international magazine on all aspects of “The Craft of The Wise,” and being recognized as a High Priestess in Australian witchcraft, this makes Shé a leading authority on witchcraft in this country.

Due to this and her amazing paranormal abilities, Sh é was asked to be on Channel 7’s ground breaking psychic reality T.V. show “The One.”

Shé, pronounced Shay, actually doesn’t use the term “witchcraft” very often and prefers “spellcraft” or “The Craft of The Wise” because she feels that they are more accurate expressions of her work and beliefs. Dr. D’Montford is the head of the Australian “Shambhallah Awareness Centre” Pagan Church and holds an honorary degree in philosophy, specializing in Tibetan and Hindu Shamanism. Her Spellcraft Magazine is currently the world’s most widely read periodical concerning witches.

Dr. D’Montford was raised in Queensland - her father was a successful businessman in the health food industry - and at a very early age she was regarded as a child prodigy because of the exceptional scholastic abilities she displayed. When she was only 10 years old, she was so deeply interested in religious studies; her family felt that her career path lay within the church.

But at age12, strange things started to happen around her that threw her career plans into total confusion. Unexplainable things began to occur around the home. Disembodied knocking and rappings in the walls, objects jumped off shelves, while other objects suddenly vanished and then reappeared in a different location.

Because of investigations into this ‘poltergeist’ activity, Shé realized that she had started to develop psychic abilities, and astonishing paranormal powers.

Not surprisingly, the elders of her local church were deeply concerned when informed about these incidents. They unfairly suggested demonic connections. The young girl was then accused of dabbling in the supposedly unchristian activity of witchcraft.

This hypocritical accusation prompted a newfound interest in the occult so she abandoned her earlier clerical ambitions and, instead, began to learn everything she could about the mystic sciences. Over time, she studied with a Tibetan and a Hindu shaman – a shaman is an indigenous priest who uses magical powers to serve their community. This Tibetan shaman was so impressed by the young Australian girl’s ability she made a special trip to Australia to meet her and give her more specialized instruction.

Since then Shé has traveled extensively, teaching, healing, performing rituals, ceremonies and giving demonstrations of The Craft of the Wise and has become recognized as one of Australia’s foremost authorities on spell crafting history and philosophy. Dr. D’Montford is also a member of Australian Alternative And Natural Therapist Association, (A.A.A.N.T.A) and several other organizations. Also, Shé was the first religious Pagan marriage celebrant recognized by the Australian Attorney General’s Dept.

In 2005, Shé joined Leela Williams and Joanne Lock of Métier Media Pty Ltd as the editor of Spellcraft Magazine. As editor, Shé's vision is to raise awareness of the the true lifestyle of pagans and witches.  The success of the magazine has supported Shé's vigilant campaign for a better understanding of witches.  Shé is keen to de-bunk the negative myths that surround the craft at every opportunity.

“It’s about time that Australians started recognizing witches for what they are,” she says, “They’re just ordinary people who happen to have spiritual and mystical beliefs a bit older and a bit different from mainstream religions. That’s really all there is to it.”
